Information Technology: Systems Support - National Certificate

This qualification aims to develop learners with the requisite competencies against the skills profile for the systems support career path. It prepares learners to enter the workplace or as an undergraduate study in Systems & Support areas covered, providing them with the necessary knowledge needed for further study in Information Technology and Computer Sciences. A qualifying learner at this level will be a well-equipped IT Technical Support or equivalent.

Use a logical methodology to troubleshoot the common types of hardware and software problems typically encountered in the day-to-day operations of a department in an organisation.

Understand the role of technology in the business context.

Demonstrate basic application support skills.

Demonstrate operating system support skills.

Demonstrate network support skills.

Relate business problems and information technology solutions.

Demonstrate appropriate technical reporting skills.

Demonstrate appropriate customer care in the context of IT support.

Demonstrate hardware support skills for server computers.

Course information

NQF Level 5 (SAQA ID 48573, 147 Credits)

Entry Requirements:

Computer Literacy (CAT), National Certificate (Grade 12),or equivalent NQF Level 4

Qualification Rules:

This qualification consists of a minimum of 147credits and has been designed per SAQA combination rules
